Top Comment: In that split second it just washed over me - I really really miss Samar. I wouldn't complain if there was a miracle cure and she came back.
[PARTIALLY LOST] Bear In The Big Blue House Live: A First Time For Everything - Update
Main Post:
EDIT: This might be a false alarm. If I get confirmation that it is this post will be deleted.
Some of you may recognize this from a few weeks ago.
There has since been an update!
To recap:
Bear in the Big Blue House Live: A First Time for Everything was a live stage show that toured from 2002-2003.
The official description of the show is as follows:
“The lovable, cha-cha-cha dancing star of Jim Henson's Bear in the Big Blue House is singing and dancing his way to cities across the nation.
Bear in the Big Blue House Live's "A First Time for Everything" is the all new national touring production starring Bear and his puppet friends from the hit Disney Channel television show.
Join in the fun as Bear is introduced to the Mann family, who get lost in Woodland Valley enroute to their new home. This exhilarating live theatre experience follows Bear and his friends, including Pip and Pop, Tutter, Ojo, and Treelo, on a journey of first-time feats and Bear welcomes every challenge with open paws! Celebrate beginners' triumphs with Bear and his friends — cheer on Tutter as he prepares for his first day of school and encourage Ojo as she rides her first two-wheeler. "A First Time for Everything" features "Bear Cha-Cha-Cha", "Goodbye Song" and other hit songs from the Disney Channel television series.
From the producers of Sesame Street Live, "A First Time for Everything" is an all-new celebration of beginners' triumphs — as Bear says, "It smells like fun!"
There are a few screenshots (some of which can be found in a slideshow uploaded by actor Sarah Daniels), the list of songs, and the characters, which can be found on Muppet Wiki as well.
A commercial for the British version of the show has also been found and it apparently toured there in 2004.
Here’s the update. A few new screenshots have been posted to r/Muppets from a personal photo album.
Top Comment: I actually meant to respond to your first post regarding this, and then I forgot (my bad), so I’m glad you posted this update. So, very long story short, one of my good friends (who I’ve toured the country with for the past decade doing another show) was actually one of the two actors/puppeteers who played Bear in “Bear in the Big Blue House Live!” He is sharing the role in the commercially released recording of that production. After seeing the original post regarding this “lost” show, I reached out to my friend (his name is Joe) about it, and he had this to say: First off, compared to the original “Bear” live show, “A First Time For Everything” was a considerably smaller production, and (in his words) also flat-out not as good. I think he said one reason why it went overseas was because of the rather lackluster response it was getting here in the States. I asked Joe if there was a recording of that show (and if it was released commercially), and he said he felt certain there was, at least for promotional purposes, but that it probably didn’t get a home video release as to not be in competition with the release of his show, “Bear in the Big Blue House Live!” He said he knows the actor who played Bear in “A First Time For Everything” (or at least ONE of the actors, as I’d think that the role was shared for that production too), and that he’d reach out to him and find out whatever he can, and see if he has a recording of the show. I’m just waiting to hear back from him. He’s currently preparing to go out on tour with another production, so I’m not sure how soon he’ll be able to reach out and then get back to me, but considering he seemed just as intrigued as I am about the whole thing, I believe he WILL do it whenever he can. Hope this helps!
